Customer lifecycle

Find and update a customer

Search for a customer before adding a new record, then update the customer details that apply to future work.

Use the Customers workspace to find the existing customer record before creating another one. This keeps quotes, bookings and invoices connected to the same customer context.

Steps

  1. Open Customers and use the available search or filters to locate the customer.
  2. Open the record and review the main customer details, properties and contacts.
  3. Select Edit to update core customer information.
  4. Save, then check the record before using it in a new quote, booking or invoice.

Important

Update an existing customer rather than creating a near-duplicate. Review any duplicate warning before deciding which record should continue to be used.

Update the right part of the record

Use the customer details for the account or person you work for, a property for each service address, and contacts for the people you communicate with. Changing a property or contact does not change a different property or contact on the same customer.

Before saving

Check the spelling, email address, phone number and service address against the source information. If ScapeOne warns about a possible duplicate, compare the existing record before creating or changing another customer.
