Invoice items make up the customer-facing bill. Review them in the draft before issue, because the item values and tax mode affect the total.

Steps

  1. Open the draft invoice.
  2. Add an available service item or manual item.
  3. Review the description, quantity, price and tax treatment for each line.
  4. Check the subtotal, tax total and invoice total.
  5. Save, then recheck the due date, customer and delivery contact before issue.

Important

Use the tax mode configured for the invoice. Do not assume a previous invoice's tax treatment is correct for a new customer or job.

Check the whole document

After changing an item, review the subtotal, tax and total together with the customer, property, contact, issue date and due date. The invoice tax mode determines how the line values are presented and totalled.

Before issue

Use clear customer-facing descriptions and remove duplicate or superseded lines while the invoice can be reviewed. A line item is part of the financial record, so do not use it to store internal notes.
