Issuing and sending an invoice are separate from recording the payment received from the customer.

Before you start

Review the invoice customer, items, total and due date before it is issued.

Steps

  1. Open Invoices and select the invoice.
  2. Use Issue Invoice when the invoice is ready to leave draft status.
  3. Use Send Invoice to deliver the invoice through the configured customer communication workflow.
  4. When payment is received, use Record payment and save the amount and payment details.

What happens next

The invoice status and outstanding balance reflect the recorded payment activity.

Check each separate action

Issue changes the invoice from draft, Send Invoice delivers it through the available workflow, and Record payment updates the payment record. Check the remaining balance after recording a partial payment.

Troubleshooting

If delivery or payment does not look right, review the invoice status, recipient, payment entry and any integration status before retrying an action.
