Understand Growth content approval states

Use content review, approval and rejection states to keep editorial decisions separate from publication.

Growth approval controls the editorial decision for an item or its available channel. It does not by itself make the content public.

How the lifecycle works

  • Draft or review-ready content remains internal until the relevant approval is recorded.
  • Approval records that the content has passed the configured review step.
  • Rejection records that changes are needed and can return the item to a permitted draft or review path.
  • Publishing or scheduling is a separate controlled action with its own channel and connection requirements.

See Growth approvals, social publishing and website revisions.

Review the finished draft

Before approval, check claims, tone, media, target channel and any evidence. A rejected item needs the required changes and a new review; approval records the editorial decision but does not create a social schedule or website revision automatically.

Use the target status too

Review the status shown on the specific content or channel. A page, blog entry and social post can have separate publication states even when they share a topic.
